Felted Once Again

I've knit several felted bags, but this one is by far my favorite. It's made from a Fleece Artist kit and, as has been my experience with other Fleece Artist kits, it was easy to knit and I love the final product.

I've been thinking about felted bags lately because I have a strong feeling that I'm going to succumb to a Noni Bag! Have you seen the Noni bags? They are so pretty and are decorated with these amazing felted flowers. They are really such creative designs I simply must have one! I'm leaning toward a small Evening Bag which is decorated with beautiful Camellia Flowers. Since I don't have a fun evening bag, in a way, it's almost a wardrobe necessity that I get this kit!

Before I forget, I do want to point out a feature about this bag that I think is particularly nice, and that is the wide handles and the way they are attached to the bag. Unlike some bags I've knit, these handles are very securely attached and as a consequence are stable and make this a most enjoyable bag to use. I also want to mention that the yarn that came with this kit (blue-face Leicester) felts extremely well and was a pleasure to knit. This bag is also appealing in person due to the wonderful colors and texture and I receive compliments from women of all ages when I am out and about using it.

Project Specs: Fleece Artist Felted Bag - kit; US 9 needles; 250g blue-face leicester yarn.

This week Steve will be traveling on business so it's just Mr Puffy and I holding down the fort. That means we will tuck into lots of goodies and have plenty of time to lounge round watching videos, nap (Mr Puffy), and knit (Claudia) and hopefully this week, somehow, I will finally finish up Flo (Kim Hargreaves sweater kit). Speaking of which, Mr Puffy has been extremely helpful with his suggestions on the finishing details and overall general encouragement to finish Flo. I really must do something special for him as a thank you!

So pretty! I love the even stripey effect. I bet even felted, the FA yarn is a dream!

The bag is very nice! I can't wait to see Flo- how'd all those ruffles go?

Fantastic bag! The Noni bags are really neat looking, I'll be curious to see what you think about knitting them.

Mr Puffy is such a help to you. Sigh. The cats only want me to make things that their shedding will show up on ...

That is so pretty. I have knit a Noni bag, but I gave it away as a gift. I liked the new one she brought out that had felted pears on it, but I don't see it on that link you gave. I love the Fuchsia one and the Cherry Blossom :-)
I used Cascade 220 when I knit one and it felted great.

Here's her website, and if you click on Fall 2007 collections you can see the 'pear' bag I mentioned. Looks like there's a lot of wonderful new stuff for Spring 08 too :)

I like bags like that. So roomy and handy, and there's no fear of breaking or ripping anything. There are lots of nice Noni bags, must be hard to choose just one. Hope Mr. Puffy and you are not getting into any trouble, being all by yourselves! ;o)

Sounds like a lovely change of pace sort of week. Hope you two enjoy yourselves!

I hadn't heard about Noni before. The bags look fantastic! I don't know how you are going to choose just one to knit.
I love your new felted bag. You mentioned that the straps were more firmly attached than most. How was this accomplished?

Roscoe and Mosby are SO jealous. They just found out that Mr. Puffy has his own e-mail address. Roscoe isn't computer literate but Mosby likes to help me on the computer so I suppose now Mosby will think he should have his own e-mail. Don't think so.

Felting and the felted bags seem to be very popular. I like the bag you did and I looked at the little bags at the link. There are a lot of really cute projects. You're going to have fun making one.

Your bag looks great. The size is perfect. I have a large size felted booga bag and I love how it feels on my shoulder. There's something about the felted handle that absorbs the weight of the bag.

The Noni bags are so original. I bought a Noni pattern a few years ago, but I haven't made one.

Sounds like you & Mr. Puffy are going to share some fun bonding time this week. Enjoy!

What a great bag! Is the yarn self-striping or did you use a few different colors?

Those Noni bags are amazing -- I hope you make the camellia-laden evening bag. I agree that it is an absolute necessity!

What a great bag! The color combo is so pretty. I agree about the wider handles. Who wants thin little straps digging into your shoulder.

The Noni evening bag is adorable!
